Response from PowerSURE Safety Light Creator

Image 1Hello PowerSURE Safety Light fans,

You have been generous and direct in your responses to the PowerSURE Safety Light email from the Mike Holt newsletter back in February and I very much appreciate your feedback. The product concept has received overwhelmingly positive responses from all of you. Recently, I've been asked by several electrical wiring device manufacturers to provide marketing data.

I received about 100+ responses from many electricians, contractors, distributors, homeowners, etc., and even one manufacturer. Some used the website http://www.power-sure.com  feedback page and some sent email to ideas@power-sure.com . Almost all (95%) of the responses described it as a 'great' product as opposed to 'good' or 'bad'. There was one 'bad' because that person doesn't experience power failures. Some of you said that it won't be easy bringing these to market - you're right, but I'm still trying.

My current efforts are in building the case for manufacturers that there is a market for the devices. Of the 100+ total valid emails, I had estimates of nearly 8000 units that many of you said you would buy if they were available; 28% were switches, 72% receptacles.

I've updated the website to include many answers to your questions on the home page and the FAQ page. Please let me know if you have further questions or suggestions using the comments text box. Unfortunately, some visitors didn’t leave their email address so I can't determine how valid their response was. I would very much appreciate your help in verifying these numbers and to request any further comments/suggestions you

may haveImage 2. It is better if you use the website feedback form again http://www.power-sure.com/feedback.php3 rather than the former email address of ideas@power-sure.com which no longer works, or simply click on the

link below for yourencouragement/feedback/suggestions.

Again, thank you all for your support. If I am successful at starting the manufacturing process for these products soon, they will be available in about a year after being tooled, built, safety tested and available for sale. As a thank you, I will be sending samples randomly to some of you that respond to this request (include your contact info)when they are made. If you forward this note to others make sure they enter your name in the comments section when they visit so I can include you in the random drawing again.

Bottom Line: It is not enough that I believe in the product and that all homes should have a standardized power failure safety lights without special wiring or extra things plugged into the wall receptacles. After all, I dreamed up this new product solution. Manufacturers don't want to do the marketing research on an outside developed product -- they are full up with their own new product research. That leaves me to make this grass roots campaign effective - with your help of course.

Also, let me know if I can use your comments (without names) as 'comments from reviewers' on the website - just tell me in the comments section.

Thank you for all your help and please forward this email to anyone you think is appropriate and may be interested in participating in the success of bringing PowerSURE products to market.

Kudos to Mike Holt, whose continued support is inspirational and very much appreciated.

Regards,

Bob

  • Did I, or did I not hear that the NEC is going to require child proof receptacles?

  • Excellent product. Please consider me as a tester for this fine product.

  • I've received about 50 responses from the feedback form so far. Initial products will be Single Pole and 3-Way switch (both require a neutral wire) and the duplex receptacle with safety shutter.

Several people have asked about using capacitors for power when an outage occurs. Unfortunately, a one-farad cap provides light for a few minutes and is too big for the space requirements.

The rechargeable batteries are replaceable since they have a shelf life of 5-6 years under trickle charge. The coin cells have a 10 year life. The LED module holds both types and we'll likely offer both styles.

Colors will initially be white followed by light almond which seem to be the two most popular.

I will post additional comments as more questions come in. Thanks for the support.

  • I am an inpsector and home builder. This device would be a great selling feature on new homes and remodels. Get this thing done so we can purchase and get it into homes and businesses -

This would be a wonder of a device for hospitals as well.
