408.7 Unused Openings

New section specifies that unused openings for circuit breakers and switches must be closed in a manner approved by the authority having jurisdiction to restrict access to energized parts when the equipment is fully assembled.

Unused openings for circuit breakers and switches must be closed using identified closures, or other means approved by the authority having jurisdiction as providing protection substantially equivalent to the wall of the enclosure. Figure 408-2

  • Now if we can just get the supply houses to keep the things in stock. I used them for years. Always thought they were required but never looked for the relevent code section. Just made plain good sence!
