680.22 Area Lighting, Receptacles, and Equipment

Subsection revised to read:

(C) Switching Devices. Switching devices must be located at least 5 ft. horizontally from the inside walls of a pool unless separated from the pool by a solid fence, wall, or other permanent barrier. Alternatively, a switch that is listed as being acceptable for use within 5 ft. is permitted.

Intent: The revised text allows pneumatic switches (i.e. nonelectric) that are listed for this purpose to be within 5 ft. of the water.
