A Time to Remember

Memorial Day is a day to take a moment to remember our
valiant military service members who died for our
country and our freedom. It is a day of both
celebration and grief. We celebrate our freedom and
the official start of summer with outdoor events and
picnics, but before anything else, it's about honoring
those heroes and the sacrifice they made.

tribute to Angel Flight LCpl Ruben Velasco. He was
with 25 other marines on an Osprey helicopter that
crashed. He was one of the 3 that did not survive.

On Memorial Day we pay tribute to those who never got
to come home - they made the ultimate sacrifice by
giving their lives for our freedom. That's different
from Veterans Day, when we thank and honor the
contribution of all those who have served and continue
to serve our country.

not a 'holiday'. It has true meaning; we are honoring
those that have given the ultimate sacrifice. Please
