Although "cast fittings" are legal I've never felt comfortable installing them. Many jobs spec steel, and many of those spec compression type. In my opinion it's going to be the installation that determines the integrity of the conduit. Cast fittings on properly secured conduit should work fine. Other considerations such as weather, wind movement, ect should be addressed at the planning stage, not installation. And yes, it will cost more both for material and labor, as always, you get what you pay for! ( at least you should!) John Johnson : el insp.
