Mike, I too was a bad decision maker in my past. I was a general contractor that was injured in the field due to a bad decision. I was down and out, couldn't work as a builder anymore due to a lower back injury. I was fortunate that I was offered a position as a building inspector for a third party company. They were pretty optimistic that I wasn't going to succeed. It was like you said one day the ligh bulb turned on, and I said this isn't me. I am now a combination building inspector with ten certifications, a lead inspector on one of the biggest projects in California ( the Apple AC2 project in Cupertino CA) I wanted to thank you for youre books and videos which seriously helped me pass my state electrical inspector exam through the NFPA. I may be a little biased because I have known and done work for Mike since 1999 and so have been along for at least part of his journey. He is a man of integrity and about as hard working a fellow as I have ever met in my entire life. He has amazed me more than once over the years with going out of his way to help others. For me to say he is a really good fellow would be an understatement. God bless you, Mike.

It is obvious that in today's culture of immediate satisfaction and entitlement, hard work is often viewed as a relic of the past. I too was raised by a single mother in the 60's when even the Catholic church excommunicated divorcees who were the subject of such. I grew up w/o a male influence and w/o parameters of acceptable behavior as a result of my mother working two full-time jobs. I roamed the streets until all hours and by mere luck, managed to avoid jail and the courts for anything serious. Many of the people that I associated with were not so fortunate. I joined the Marine Corps at the age of eighteen and learned valuable lessons about respect, honor, loyalty and perseverance. I often reiterate to others facing hardship that: "Life is a series of successive obstacles. When you encounter such, you are given the innate ability to choose how you react. When you choose correctly, you will more than likely not encounter that obstacle again. Or, if you do, you already know the correct response. However, if you make the wrong decision, there are repercussions and you are destined to repeat that obstacle repeatedly throughout life until you come upon the right decision." That philosophy is imperative for those that wish to succeed.

Thanks a lot, Mike, for caring to give a motivation for success, which won't happen except after honoring God, as you respectfully mentioned. I will print out your GOLDEN WORDS to make it my path always!!

Well said. We all have struggled at some time in our life. We try and try to "fix" our mistakes by ourselves. The truth is only with GODS mercy and by his Grace can we fix our broken life. Let go and let GOD!!!!!
