2023 Code Video - 440.4

Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of everyone involved in electrical safety. The following is what I feel is an important rule in the 2023 NEC®, complete with graphics and a video. I encourage you to use it as a training resource for your organization, and share it with your colleagues.

Want to know how easy it is to size the conductor and breaker or fuse for hermetic motor compressor equipment? It’s simple, just follow the equipment manufacturer’s nameplate ratings for sizing the minimum conductor and maximum overcurrent protection sizes as explained in the National Electrical Code section 440.4. Ever heard that guy who says, “you can’t protect that 10 AWG with a 50A circuit breaker.” Don’t be “that guy”!

Read the attached text and watch the video where Mike and the team explain how to interpret hermetic motor compressor nameplate markings that are required by 440.4.
