2023 Code Video - 242.14

Keeping up with the requirements of the Code should be the goal of everyone involved in electrical safety. I encourage you to use it as a training resource for your organization, and share it with your colleagues.

Do you know where a Type 2 surge-protective device (SPD) can be located in the electrical system? Type 2 SPDs have specific requirements in 242.14 that let us know where they can and can’t be installed. A surge-protective device is designed to protect electronic equipment from damaging surge currents by reducing transient overvoltages at the load.

Find out the rules on Type 2 SPDs by reading the attached text and then watch the video where Mike and the team discuss the installation requirements in 242.14.
