One of the secondary busses from our 12 kV to 208V transformer blew. We're not sure what caused it, but apparently moisture found its way between the mounting on the side of the transformer and the bussing. The installation was only around 8 years old, so we decided to take a look at the original drawings and found that the contractor who installed it left out a support for the buss duct. My guess is the support didn't matter as much as the moisture/seal failure, but who am I to know!
The amazing part is no fuses blew, either in the transformer or the switchgear or upstream in the main campus switch. Flames could be seen from the other side of a 30' high theater building nearby.
We're running 5 buildings on generators until parts arrive.
