810.21 Grounding Conductors – Receiving Stations

The text to this subsection was revised to read:

(F) Electrode. The grounding conductor as required by 810.14 and 20 must be connected to any of the following:

(1) To the nearest accessible location on the following:
  1. The building or structure grounding electrode system as covered in Section 250.50
  2. The grounded interior metal water piping system within 5 ft. from the point of entrance into the building as covered in Section 250.52, Figure 810-1
  3. The power service accessible means external to enclosures as covered in Section 250.94
  4. The metallic power service raceway
  5. The service equipment enclosure, or
  6. The grounding electrode conductor or the grounding electrode conductor metal enclosures
Intent: The change was made to clarify that when the interior metal water was was used for grounding, the connection has to be made within 5 ft from the point of entrance into the building.
