License Requirements
Can perform all of the same work as an Unlimited Electrical Contractor while under the employment of an Unlimited Electrical Contractor.
Reciprocity
None at this time
Testing NEC Edition
- 2023 or 2020 NEC effective 9/1/25; until that time, you can use 2017, 2020, or 2023
Exam Details
C-6 Limited Electrical Journeyperson: 2 hours, 50 questions E-2 Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson: 3 hours, 70 questions
Renewal
- Annual by September 30
License Requirements
Contractor (Unlimited)
- 2 years as an unlimited licensed journeyperson or at least six (6) years of equivalent experience and training is required.
Reciprocity
None at this time
Testing NEC Edition
- 2023 or 2020 NEC effective 9/1/25; until that time, you can use 2017, 2020, or 2023
Exam Details
Business & Law: 2 hours, 50 questions
Trade Exams (open book):
- C-5 Limited Electrical Contractor: 2 hours, 60 questions
- E-1 Unlimited Electrical Contractor: 4 hours, 100 questions
Renewal
- Annual by September 30.

Connecticut Electrical Continuing Education Required: 4 hours of courses prior to renewal. Must be completed 90 days before license expiration date (CEUs due by June 30th)
Connecticut Electrical License Renewal: Electrical licenses expire annually on September 30th. Renew licenses on board website here.
