Mississippi Statewide NEC Adoption
2014 effective 5/1/2017. The updated Mississippi Fire Prevention Code is based on the 2015 International Building Code, 2015 International Fire Code, and 2015 International Residential Code. The 2014 National Electrical Code and NFPA 72-2013 are adopted as referenced. The MFPC applies to all state owned buildings, places of assembly, buildings over 75' in height, correctional facilities, and private fraternity and sorority houses. Jurisdictions may adopt local fire codes that are not less stringent than the MFPC, as determined by the State Fire Marshal.
