Nevada Statewide NEC Adoption
The NEC is adopted and enforced at the local level. State Public Works Division is on the NEC-2017.
Stay up to date with your state's Code activity by visiting the NEMA website, or NFPA. Please check with your State Board. Licensing requirements do change, and this site may not have been updated to reflect those changes.

License Requirements
Electrical Contractor (C-2) To Work Construction In Nevada You Must Complete Mandatory OSHA 10 or 30-hour Construction Training. -4 years experience as a journeyman, foreman, supervising employee or contractor in the field of work for which a license is being sought. The four (4) years experience must have occurred within the ten (10) years immediately preceding filing of an application. -4 reference certificates that must be completed by someone who has firsthand knowledge of your experience. Training received in a program offered at an accredited college or university may be used to satisfy a portion of the required experience. Licensing Overview

Reciprocity
Nevada's reciprocity agreement with the states of Arizona, California, and Utah pertain to the trade examination only. All other information and application requirements must be completed.
Exam Testing Company
An exam eligibility letter will be provided to you after your application has been filed with the Nevada State Contractors Board, and board staff has verified your experience. Exams are administered by PSI (800) 733-9267

Exam Details
Nevada requires each applicant to pass a general business and law or CMS examination, and a trade examination specific to the classification of license for which you have applied. Contract Management Survey: 60 questions, 2 hours Electrical C-2: 80 questions, 4 hours

Clark County, Nevada Continuing Education Required: To renew your Electrical Journeyman, Residential, Sign or Low Voltage Technician, you must obtain 1.8 CEU (18 hours of instruction) every three years. To renew your Electrical Master, you must obtain 3.0 CEU (30 hours).
Your hours must include a minimum of each listed item below each renewal period:
- 0.8 CEU covering a code-change class (which highlights code changes to the current edition or future enforced edition of the NEC)
- 0.4 CEU covering NFPA 70e, Electrical Safety based on the current edition.
Only CEUs issued by specific organizations on electrical code and safety-related topics will be accepted. For more information on providers and courses that are acceptable for CEUs, see the ESP Website.
