License Renewal & CEU Requirements

License Renewal CEU Requirements Wisconsin Electrical Continuing Education Required: The following license types J, M, CEI, and UDC require 24 hours of continuing education. Credential holders may not retake the same training session for credit more than once during the 1-, 2- or 4-year term of a specific credential, unless the training session is a face-to-face training session.

Registered Electrician 24 hours, renew every 1 year by license issue date
Residential Journeyman Electrician 18 hours, renew every 4 years by June 30
Residential Master Electrician 18 hours, renew every 4 years by June 30
Industrial Journeyman Electrician 18 hours, renew every 4 years by June 30
Journeyman Electrician 24 hours, renew every 4 years by June 30
Master Electrician 24 hours, renew every 4 years by June 30
UDC-Electrical Inspector 24 hours, renew every 4 years by June 30
Commercial Electrical Inspector 24 hours, renew every 4 years by June 30

PLEASE NOTE: If you obtained this credential by passing the exam, you will not be required to take any continuing education prior to your first expiration date. You will be required to fulfill the continuing education requirements starting after you have renewed your credential for the first time.There is no CEU Requirement for Electrical Contractors or Restricted Electrical Contractors.

Wisconsin Electrical License Renewal: J, M, UDC, and CEI Licensee are required to renew by June 30th every 4 years.
